The Post About Amazon Gift Card Giveaway

WE HAVE A WINNER!

Speaking of great gifts for bakers and bookies, how about something nice for you?

I'm doing a fun little holiday giveaway of a $25 Amazon Gift Card in honor of the following:
1. I attended a charity auction last week and ate a phenomenal breakfast casserole.
2. I overbid and won a Garmin GPS at said charity auction.
3. I stopped watching the road and watched my animated car on said GPS and almost ran off the road.
4. I recognized the letters ADD do not work well with the letters GPS.

  1. My first telephone. This was no ordinary phone, it was a Lamborghini phone. The best part about it is when my Mom was sneaking into my bedroom, early Xmas morning around 2ish, to plug it in. I woke up and caught her and learned Santa is not real.

    ReplyDelete
  2. My engagement ring! Lee proposed on December 22 and that was all I got that year from him, unless you count the roses involved. (Understandably so.)

  3. My grandma made me an amazing quilt. A few years later, I returned the favor- I gave her one of her own. I don't think anyone had ever made her something like that before. Honestly, making the quilt for her- totally the first time I made a quilt- was a really amazing experience for me. I probably enjoyed giving her the quilt more than I enjoyed receiving one.

  18. A NEW bike when I was a kid ... I stress NEW because as the youngest child EVERYTHING I got was a hand-me-down. But one glorious Christmas I got something new ... just for me ... never used. No Styrofoam "basket" my dad had duct taped to the front. Just pure glimmering newness. I think heaven and nature sang a special song for the occasion.

  23. When I was in seventh grade I got one of those neon light phones for my room. Not only did I get that cool phone that I never thought I would ever, ever get, but I got to have a phone in my room!! It wasn't my own line, but it was the coolest thing ever! I kept that phone for a long time and it even made it to my first apartment with me. It broke during the next move. I was devastated!

    ReplyDelete
  50. My husband and I got engaged at Christmas time so my favoirte gift was the beautiful engagement ring he had picked out all on his own.

Runner-up: one year my mother typed out all the qualities that she saw in me (did the same for my sister), cut them up into strips, and placed in a beautiful decorative box. This was back in the days when I was a hard to manage teenager, so the gesture was extra kind... I didn't always see those things in myself, nor did I spend much time trying to model them to the rest of the world.

    ReplyDelete
  51. my favorite christmas gift hmm...my favorite christmas gift is probably the Princess Diana paper doll book my sister gave me last year for christmas. It was very sweet. My mom and I used to collect paper dolls so the gesture brought tears to my eyes.

  52. When I was a senior in high school and getting ready to go away to college, back in the days when computers were a little harder to come by and a little more expensive (1994), I came downstairs to find a whole bunch of clothes laid out on several surfaces on "my" side of the tree (my sister's gifts were on the other side). I was excited - what teenage girl doesn't like new clothes? I picked up a shirt and saw that under it was a new printer - I assumed for our family computer upstairs, and I was absolutely gleeful - I could now type my school papers on the computer and print them out! I thought that was it, the big gift for the year. I picked up a pair of pants, and discovered they concealed a monitor...and another piece of clothing concealed a CPU, and another hid a keyboard and mouse, all for me to take to college with me. I was absolutely overwhelmed - I never expected such a thing. I can't even imagine the sacrifices my parents made to get that for me, and I was so grateful. I should have realized something was up when my little sister didn't even start looking at her presents - she just sat down at her pile and watched me with a big grin on her face :) It's making me weepy even now, just thinking about it 15 years later!

  148. One of the best presents I ever received, oddly enough was a GPS. My Father in Law got one for my husband and I so that we don't get lost when we travel. That's huge, since my husband hates to read a map but doesn't seem to mind the voice of the lady on the Garmin ;)

  155. One of the best gifts I ever got was a swingset in the backyard when I was a little kid. I'll never forget finding a note under the tree and being super confused. Then my dad told me to look out back, and there it was, all built up for me and my brother. I guess he stayed up after we went to bed and built it.

  162. No violins please, I do not want to sound totally sappy, but I was very sick one year and my entire family pulled together and after one year I was in remission. That Christmas I was able to give my parents a daughter who was cancer free. To this day my mom talks about it...usually cries too. A good cry not a bad cry.

  164. One year my Mom and I were at the mall shopping and I saw a sweater that I loved. I went back a few days later and they were sold out. I was really sad. But on Christmas morning my Mom had it all wrapped up for me. Turns out she had bought it that day when we were shopping and she somehow hid this from me! Such a great surprise!

  171. My best Christmas gift ever? A library card to our closest library. We lived out of city limits, so it cost a lot. I had been wanting one for sooooo long, and I had tapped out our little school library. Yay! I always vote to expand access to our local libraries.

  173. I remember a Christmas as a child when my mother found out about a large family that wasn't going to have Christmas because they had waited too long to sign up with the Salvation Army. My mother had me help pick out toys that I no longer played with and pulled some of her own jewely out of the jewelry box for the older girls. I awkwardly helped with the gift wrapping. I rode in the car on Christmas Eve to make the delivery. My mother had my brother and his friend who wore a uniform from his private school (Saint Anthony's) that had SA on the collar get out of the car to deliver the gifts. My mother said she hoped they thought the Salvation Army had come through for them after all. I still remember the parent's joy when they opened the door, giving me the best present of all--the true meaning of Christmas.

  178. My favorite gift was a set of tickets to see Renee Fleming sing in concert- I'm a singer, and she is a demi-goddess in my eyes. The fact that my boyfriend, who knows NOTHING about music, knew how much it would mean to me, meant the world to me. An evening out in his company was nice, as well!
